Practical resources and support to help teachers deliver Wales’ National Plan for Music and the Expressive Arts curriculum.

All music services and schools are being provided with full access to the platform. Music Service teachers can obtain a login from their music service.

First Experiences

Charanga Cymru includes interactive teaching resources for popular beginner instruments – perfect for First experiences and the early stages of large-group music tuition.

You’ll find them all in a dedicated Instruments section. They include ‘First Notes to First Band’, which focuses on enabling children to experience the joy of music-making through playing and singing while working towards their first live classroom band or larger ensemble performances.

Curriculum for Wales Resources

Access a library of Curriculum for Wales resources for each Progression Step to support listening, singing, improvising, composing, and performing. Contrasting units explore music technology and instrumental learning.

The teaching resources provided range from animated songs, listening, and improvising activities for younger age groups to a full-blown Grime project for older students, using YuStudio, Charanga’s beginner-friendly online music studio.

Celebrating Partnerships

This area of the platform showcases culturally rich resources from Welsh musicians, curriculum specialists and partner organisations, including CânSing, Sinfonia Cymru and Trinity College London (Arts Award).

Yumu

Yumu is a safe online workspace for students that sits within the Charanga Cymru digital platform. You can share lessons and creative apps with students and support their learning between lessons and outside of school.
